Heal Your Body and Mind - Liberate Your Spirit : Fasting with the Integral Rice Diet

What is the organic integral rice diet and how does it work to heal, balance, harmonize, and support the body?

The integral rice diet is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles. It takes into account not just what we are eating and the quality of that food- but it also takes into account how food impacts us on an energetic level. We can eat “healthy” foods such as fruits, vegetables, meats, etc. However, TCM takes into account the energetic qualities of those foods and how they interact with our own energy. We have yin foods, yang foods, and neutral foods. The aim of TCM, as I understand it, is to see where our own body falls within that scale on a daily basis and then feed ourselves according to the balanced needs within our system.

For instance- if we have a lot of yin energy going on then we would introduce more yang foods to bring harmony and balance. Then, vice versa for yang energy- we would eat more yin foods. This can often be told through things like tongue analysis or even reading the pulse.

If the body is imbalanced between yin and yang it can lead to a long list of problems: too cold, too hot, dampness, meridian deficiencies, energy depletion, mood swings and irritability, candida over growth, etc. leading to a long list of different kinds of disorders. However, a way to naturally bring harmony to the body is to eat a simple diet that is filled with neutral foods - balanced foods between yin and yang energy. When we eat neutral foods then our bodies will naturally become balanced too.

What we eat becomes our blood, our flesh. We are given food that will become our blood.Ananda Buddhi from Health and a Beautiful Life book.

This is where the organic integral rice diet becomes very helpful and healthy. This diet acts as medicine for the entire body and system because of its simple and balanced energetic properties- yin and yang neutral- as well as its systemic abilities to impact the entirety of us on a whole level: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

We should first and foremost consider the role and importance of the blood:
In order for the body’s organs and systems to function properly, we need to act on the quality of our blood, which has the function of delivering oxygen and nutrients to the internal organs in addition to collecting carbon dioxide and metabolic products.

The blood becomes contaminated or obstructed due to several factors, for example, cigarettes, poor diet, air pollution, poor environment, sedentary lifestyle, etc., but also due to a fat deposit, a process that occurs in all organisms.

Imagine a pipe full of garbage and rust; it can reduce the water pressure, make it taste or smell bad, and finally, if its pressure is too high, the pipe can break. The same goes for blood vessels. If we have excess cholesterol or other substances in the lining of our blood vessels, the heart needs more pressure to send blood to the circulatory system, which increases pressure (overloaded vessels are the main cause of hypertension!). If the blood accumulates impurities, blood flow is eventually interrupted. As a result, problems arise in all organs and systems of the body.

If we are careful and keep our blood clean, we will have the opportunity to live our lives free from suffering or disease. In other words, if we want to prolong our lives and improve our health, cleansing the blood is the way to go. And it’s not just a theory. If we’ve never cleaned our blood and we are over 40, it’s time to do it because saturated blood vessels can be harmful to our health if they haven’t already been.Ananda Buddhi’s book Health and a Beautiful Life. (HGL)

When our blood is not clean, our bodies are not clean! If there is an imbalance and issue within the bodies organs then we can consider the root transporter of oxygen and nutrients to those organs for revitalization and healing- the blood. By cleaning the blood we can clean the body. This is a fundamental aspect of the integral rice diet. It works as a medicine of purification for our blood- amongst other things.

It may also be helpful to consider the way the quality of blood impacts other areas of our lives. For instance, blood that needs to be cleaned can also lead to a mind that needs to be cleaned. There is a direct relationship between the mind and blood. Therefore, when we clean our blood we are also creating a home for a more clear and focused mind- in other words, we slow down the monkey mind and build a stronger relationship to our more authentic selves- the soul/spirit.

It may also be useful to note the correlation between the small intestine and the mind. When we dig into how imbalances in the meridians impact the quality of our thoughts and focus of our minds- it becomes apparent- the importance of food, mind, body relationship. When the small intestine is weakened and poor digestion is occurring (diarrhea, constipation, crohns, IBS, celiac, etc.) we can pay attention to also how our mind is. Often when we have poor digestion we also have much activity of the mind. The body is not absorbing nor assimilating our food properly because it is getting stuck in the small intestine. This can cause inflammation, discomfort, and overactive mind- even to the point, in serious cases, of schizophrenia, mental mania, alzheimer's, or dementia (these are more serious cases where the small intestine has not been taken care of over a longer period of time). For this reason, it is important to have practices in place that build a healthy relationship to food, our desires, and mastering the mind (all correlated). -More info can be found in the book Merdians: Maps of the Soul book

Side note: If you are having many digestion problems it could be useful to simplify what you are consuming- both in food (integral rice diet is great for that!) and media (social media, news, etc.) Our bodies have to process and digest all of this- not just food. Overconsumption both in food and/or media will result in imbalances of the digestive tract. Simplify your intake- heal the digestion.

We can work with the integral rice diet to heal the body through the blood and therefore the psyche and even the spirit.

Every 10 days our blood plasma and platelets regenerate. Red blood cells are renewed every 120 days within our blood and white blood cells are released every 6-8 hours. The mucous membrane of the intestines is renewed at an incredible rate of one million cells per minute: in four days, the intestine can renew itself. The quality of our blood can return to a normal state within a few days- depending on the food we are consuming.

To regain normal polarity in our cells and take control of our lives. That is, to generate a good Yin (recevier) inside as good blood and organic liquids are good Yang (sender) on the outside as good energies.-Ananda book -HGL

10 DAY CURE PROTOCOL
There are many variations of the protocol dependent on individuals needs and intentions. However, we will focus on the detox protocol here. This protocol will be great for cleansing and resetting your body and system.

The diet itself is very simple. The simplicity of the diet is important because when we bring our diet back to simplicity we also bring our mind and energy back to simplicity. As you move through this diet you will experience this for yourself and see what I mean.

Cereals are a staple food of humans, and our teeth indicate this (we have about 20 molars to crush/grind 62.5% of the seeds, 4 canines to shred 12.5% of the meat, and 8 incisors to cut 25% of the plants). I chose whole grain rice among cereals because it is one of the most balanced cereals and because of its clarity and properties, which are generated by deeply cleansing organic tissues and the mind.

That is why I find it indispensable for curing the sick because it expels all the wastes and parasites from the body, which are the cause of all diseases.” -Ananda’s books HBL

If we consider the healthiest countries in the world- they are Asian countries. They are consuming mostly rice!

DIET CONSISTS OF THIS FOOD LIST:

  • Organic non-gmo whole grain rice: your choosing (but must be WHOLE grain): brown rice, wild rice, red rice, purple rice, pink rice, black rice (DO NOT CONSUME: white rice such as basmati, jasmine, etc.)

  • Tamari: it needs to be tamari because the soy beans have been fermented. I prefer the brand San-J low sodium for quality and taste - the low sodium is nice because the gomasio already is quite salty on it’s own anyway

  • Gomasio: this is a 12 part sesame seed (black or white) per 1 part pink himalayan salt. In a bowl make a mixture of 12 tsp sesame seeds and 1 tsp of pink himalayan salt. Then, mix together. You will place 1 tsp of this on your rice for every meal. It balances the PH levels of the dish which in turn will balance your own PH levels in your body

  • Seaweed: Nori and wakame are what my teacher recommends. You can crisp the nori sheets up (like what they use in sushi) up on the stove top. I place it directly over a hot flame some distance to crisp (if gas stove) or directly on the stove top over the burner (if electric). Watch closely but the nori should start wilting up pretty quickly. Then, flip and repeat for multiple sheets. Then crunch it on top of your rice. The wakame you can rehydrate in some water with tamari, rice vinegar, ginger, and gomasio. Let sit for at least 20 minutes and will absorb the combination of flavors. Add a tbsp of this to your rice each meal. Alternatively, you can keep it super simple and simply hydrate wakame with water only.

  • Black sesame seed oil: if you do not have access to this for any reason you can also use toasted sesame seed oil or olive oil. Use this sparingly! Too much of it and it can bring imbalance to the liver and intestines

  • CHEW YOUR FOOD THOROUGHLY! I offer this as an ingredient because it is a STAPLE to this diet. It must be maintained throughout in order for the diet to work and properly do what it is designed to do. If the food is not being chewed properly you may experience much discomforts throughout! Each bite should be chewed 50-100 times per mouth food until the food is COMPLETELY LIQUID inside of the mouth. This will take some practice and getting used to for most…. (more on this below).

  • Offer gratitude before every meal

You can easily and accessibly find all of these ingredients for a very affordable price at any Asian Supermarket near you! Find the closest city to you, if possible, they should have one there (if you are in the U.S.). Asian Supermarkets make the diet very efficient and easy to do! If for some reason you do not have an asian supermarket, then most grocery stores and even online stores should make this diet accessible.

How much rice will you need?
For myself, I usually go through about 5-10lbs of rice in a 10 day period. It really depends on my hunger level, hormonal phase I am in, and activity level throughout the day. I would recommend getting 10lbs of rice for it so you are prepared.

Typically, I eat more rice in the first 3 days of the diet. Then after the first 3 days my hunger begins to slow down and I eat a bit less. However, this diet is not about restricting intake really… you can eat however much you feel your body needs to feel fueled!

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT DETOX AND HEALING CRISIS:
This diet acts very similarly to that of a fast. This means the body will be cleaning itself. It will go through a process of elimination and renewal. This part of the process can bring discomforts and detox symptoms. This could look like a variety of things depending upon what is present and preexisting in the system. The body will begin to communicate its imbalances, deficiencies, impurities, etc. especially on the 3rd and 4th day of the protocol.

Some examples of this could be: digestion discomforts, diarrhea, headaches, acne breakouts, fatigue and tiredness, brain fog, hives or skin changes, joint pain, emotional changes and reactions (moodiness), etc.

You can pay attention to what is becoming present in the system as you detox and it can be very telling as to what exactly you have going on in your body! If you need direction or support on this matter- you can reach out to myself (Angela) or Ananda Buddhi (my teacher) for support and help- contact info found at end of doc.

Healing-crisis is a natural part of the process and can change according to the severity of issues going on! There are things that can be offered to you as support during this process if you ask for help. I have many other tools in my tool belt according to the body's needs and process. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if it arises.

YOUR BODY WILL DETOX ITSELF DURING THIS PROCESS.

I heavily note this because often when people start detoxing they go into a panic on whether what they are experiencing is okay or not… often the body will actually begin to make previous symptoms they were experiencing WORSE before they get better. It is short term! But it is because it is cleaning it out and the body is going through a process of healing. I note- it is temporary, and usually only lasts a few days. After your body moves through the symptoms patients tend to feel better and better as the days go on! So, KEEP GOING. Move through the detox symptoms and experience liberation and health on the other side!

And again, reach out ot me for support and help if you need!

CHEW YOUR FOOD:
One of the first steps in the digestive process happens within the mouth. The saliva in the mouth has important enzymes in it which are important factors to properly breaking down the food when in your digestive system. YOUR STOMACH DOESN’T HAVE TEETH. So, we must use our teeth for what they are there for- to properly chew our food.

This is often the part that most of my patients, as well as myself, have to really focus on and practice throughout, especially in the beginning. Most of us have not been taught how to properly chew our food and instead live in a society that demands us to produce produce produce! As a result it has disrupted our nervous systems and our digestive systems!

In order for our bodies to have healthy digestion we must chew our food! If our food is chewed thoroughly and contains the enzymes (and saliva) it needs it can properly assimilate that food and absorb it within the small intestinal tract. This will also lead to better evacuation and flow when in the large intestine and lastly when exiting our bowels.

If you experience many discomforts and even constipation when on the integral rice diet it is important to note and pay extra attention: “Am I chewing my food enough?”

Oftentimes the answer is no… and we can start again and keep practicing. Well-chewed food on the integral rice diet will always digest well and properly. So, make it a vow to yourself when you enter into this experience -with an open heart and mind- “I will chew my food thoroughly and considerably with love and gratitude.”

As a result, you may begin to notice shifts that happen alongside that practice. When we slow down when we eat- it often acts as a reminder to slow down, be present, and pay attention to other tasks and moments throughout our day to day lives. So be present while you eat and it  will train your mind how to become more present in all things.

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU EAT?
It is recommended to do 1 cup of rice per meal. Start with this and if you chew the food properly and thoroughly your body will be able to tell you if it needs more or less. If you find yourself feeling extra fatigued throughout the day- also make sure you are eating enough. The more active you are throughout your day will usually determine how much the body needs to eat. You are welcome to eat as much rice as your body requires!

Although this diet does act like a fast on the system- it also simultaneously nourishes our body! It is important to ensure that you are getting all ingredients on the list above- whole grain rice, tamari, seaweed, gomasio, and black sesame seed oil. This combination will allow for a well-balanced meal every time!

The components and healing properties of each food within the diet:

Teas that can be supportive: High quality organic herbal teas, MU tea, oolong tea, green tea - note: drink teas (especially caffeinated) within moderation and sparingly.

Otherwise I recommend this drink recipe to drink throughout the day:
1-2 liters each day-
Recipe:
1 liter water
2 scoops Giving Greens Powder
1 scoop magnesium citrate from DaVinci Labs company OR Pure brand

OR

1 liter water
2 scoops Giving Greens Powder
Pinch of pink himalayan salt
Half a fresh squeezed lemon

Drink 1-2 liters of either combination of this every day alongside your rice. Stay hydrated throughout the integral rice diet! I recommend at least 2 liters evenly throughout your day- in whatever hydrating form you are choosing. Stay away from preservatives, white sugars, fructose, dyes, etc. The whole point of this diet is to clean your body and balance your PH so it is important to take fluids that also support this (why I listed the 1-2 liter drink option recipes above).

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR RICE:
In this part of the article I will copy and paste the recommendations made by my teacher Ananda Buddhi. Please note that he goes into other grains that can be altered according to individuals needs. Disregard this and stick to rice if you are doing this diet as a means to detox. For further info regarding the proper use of different grains- you can find that info in his book, Health and a Beautiful Life- info for this will be at the bottom of this article.

“This diet consists of eating only integral rice for at least 10 days. In cereal, or cream, every day. I practice it and I tell you that if you want to try something extraordinary for your health, this is what you should put into practice. It will not prevent you from continuing to work, it is not like fasting.

However, he hopes to experience various elimination of toxins or toxic because after a few days the rice begins to detoxify. Persevere! You will be rewarded beyond your expectations, it is fabulous from every point of view, physical, mental, personality.

This diet is extraordinarily effective, heals or improves most physiological diseases, even those incurables. (Arthritis - asthma - atherosclerosis - cancers - cystitis - diabetes - eczema - cholesterol- epilepsy - gout - hypertension - hypotension - obesity - anorexia - Parkinson - psoriasis - migraine - rheumatism - colds - sinusitis - multiple sclerosis - culebilla, etc.) Psychological (Depression - Neurasthenia - Autism - Paranoia - Schizophrenia) and of course also to stay fit and maintain perfect health to old age.

Why?
The result of everything we absorb is in the blood.
This diet purifies the blood in 10 days.
The blood cleans the accumulated toxins in 30 days.
The organs are regenerated in 90 days, the entire body in 1 year.
If you really want to prove the effectiveness of this diet, try it for 10 days. You will be transported to another world, that of physical, mental, and spiritual health.

It is quite simple:
It consumes only organic integral rice in each meal.
Drink little by little according to your thirst (chew your drink) - chew as much as you can also rice. It is like fasting, but without hunger.
It is not the end. It must mark the beginning of a deep change in your lifestyle and in your eating habits according to universal principles, otherwise you will inevitably fall into illness or despair.

10 days to start, you can always start over time when you feel the need. Then to continue the road to healing you must continue with the standard diet of bioenergetic nutrition such as the teaching center channel.

The first 3 days can be a bit difficult mentally, keep your mind busy and stay active.

Why rice?
As rice does not contain purines, that is why rice is the cereal of detoxification and
therefore the cereal of healing. If you have any problem, always return to rice.

CAUTION: Rice has a great power to purify the body, thus released toxins are transported by blood before being eliminated by the excretory system. It is easy to understand that, in case of strong accumulation, this sudden diffusion of waste throughout the body can cause elimination phenomena equivalent to a mini poisoning (diarrhea, constipation, migraines, attacks of weakness).

Cooking rice:

Measure: a cup = 225 gr - 1 cup of raw rice yields 3 cups of cooked rice.

One cup of cooked rice per person.

Container: steam pressure pot (valve pressure pot, pressure cooker.)

Or a stainless-steel pot of surgical quality with a lid.

Amount:

One cup of rice.

Two cups of water.

One pinch with three salt fingers.

Place the rice on a strainer, rinse it with clean cold water, drain it and wander it in the pot.

Add the pinch of salt and cold pure water, shake slightly to spread the grains throughout the surface of the bottom, this also helps to check the quality of the rice, the more grains float on the surface, the less the quality will be.

Place the pot on the fire without a lid, bring to light boiling, place the lid, and let the pressure increase, to the “maximum pressure” valve signal, lower the heat to a minimum and if necessary, place a diffuser.

From this moment it counts 45 minutes. 1 hour in a normal pot.

When time has elapsed, remove the fire container, and wait for the pressure to fall alone, in this way the grains of the background will detach more easily.

Open the lid and remove the rice.

Cooked rice in this way has a nut flavor, a soft and delicious flavor and is particularly digestible, but chew it well anyway.

Cereal in cream:
(For cereal in cream you can take a vitamix or high quality food processor and grind any whole grain rice down to a fine powder. Once it is a fine rice powder it is ready to be used as a cereal in cream.)

Heat the rice or cereal slightly in a pan over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

Let it cool and shine it very fine to make some flour.

For one part of roasted cereal flour, add five parts of water, bring to a boil, and let cook over low

heat for 15 minutes.

Mix specially made from roasted grains: in decreasing quantities: rice, barley, wheat, oatmeal,

sesame and azukis, all finely ground. Recommended in the form of baby cream and sick people with lack of appetite. Very digestible. No gluten: whole rice, sweet rice, quinoa, azukis.

For a long -term cure, add a pinch of parsley to rice.

Gomasio (roasted sesame and salt of l`himalaya) should be prepared in the proportion of one salt/7sesame or by one salt/12 sesame.

Do body exercises every day even if you are tired.

Drink little by little (swallow in the mouth or chew the liquids or drink well), chew the rice well, even the cream.

Why rice:
Since we are following this diet, we must first consider it in the light of the Yin-Yang principle. Some foods are too Yin, others too Yang. Rice is a balanced food. The K/Na relationship that serves as a reference for being one of the predominant elements that are considered is perfect, that is, K(potassium) and Na (sodium).

You should know that more than one billion humans on this planet eat exclusively rice. It is the basic food of many people around the world.

Rice is rich in starch and the human being digests it perfectly. Today some people consider that gluten is responsible for many digestive disorders, or at least digestive discomfort. And the rice does not contain it, unlike wheat.

Rice contains fiber, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, sulfur, chlorine, manganese, iron, copper, zinc, arsenic, iodine, fluoride, vitamins A, B1 and B3. And we can say that it is the ideal food because it is suitable for both children and older people and we athletes. It never causes allergies and even tends to relieve stomach acidity. Protects against certain cancers (colon, breast, prostate).

It tends to reduce cholesterol, reduces blood sugar levels. Cooking rice water is well known and recommended for diarrhea. On the other hand, rice bran is a powerful laxative. All this with comprehensive rice of course. Because white rice is pure starch and has become poor in minerals and vitamins of group B, in particular. Precooked rice is white rice, but it is considered a quick sugar and at all a slow sugar, this is particularly important for athletes.

Its protein content is high, around 8%, therefore, lower than wheat, but on the other hand superior in essential amino acids such as cystine, histidine, lysine, especially when, in addition, it is germinated.

I recommend a diet based on rice for high blood pressure, gastrointestinal and renal conditions, heart failure, heart disease and nervous system disorders. Rice water, as we have seen, is used against diarrhea because it is astringent, regulatory and phosphates rich.

The rice will cook in water, and you will have to wait until the rice has absorbed all the water of cooking, otherwise you will throw all the minerals through the sink.

Never mix or combine other foods with starch such as potatoes, for example, or bread on the same dish. These two substances, due to their antagonism, form in the stomach and in the intestine a non-digestible chemical that rots in the intestine and, therefore, becomes harmful, which would be a pity.

Specific action of certain foods that can accompany this cure:
(Stick to just whole grain rice as your grain to keep it even more simple. If you wish to expand into other grains properly- please find the info in Ananda’s book- Health and a Beautiful Life).

Rice is a powerful detoxifier of blood, and cleanses deep tissues.

Kasha and very energetic, well for weakened and cold people.

The barley has a soothing action on the nervous system.

The millet strengthens the bone system in case of decalcification.

Oatmeal: muscle and nervous stimulant but heats up.

Corn: In cases of pessimism, sadness, depression.

Umeboshi: digestive system, stomach, liver.

Gomasio: Detoxifies blood and strengthens the intestines.

Miso: powerful fortifier of Yang. Neutralize chemicals and radiation.

Tamari: Strengthens the heart. Neuralgia, sciatica.

Mu tea: for people weakened by Yin. Yang tonic.”

Now combining all ingredients together in one dish:
1 cup cooked whole grain rice
1-2 tsp tamari
1-2 sheets nori and/or 1 tbsp hydrated wakame
1 tsp Gomasio blend
Small drizzle of black sesame seed oil

For high acidity levels in the body you will change the ration and recipe of your Gomasio.
Regular recipe : 12 tsp sesame seed by 1 tsp pink himalayan salt- mixed
HIGH ACIDITY IN BODY RECIPE: 7 tsp sesame seed by 1 tsp pink himalayan salt- mixed

The stronger the salt content the higher activity of PH balancing for the system and body. You can shift this recipe according to your bodies personal needs of detoxification.
