Angelic Illumination Medicine Box - for medicines, tools, and sacred items
Description
This is a handmade box crafted by me! I was inspired ages ago to create medicine boxes. I have done 1 other in the past but after some years of further evolvement as an artist it felt time to try my hand at another. So, from there.... this piece was birthed!
I have a love for wings. I love looking at them, creating them, and painting them. Something about them really draws me in... which is why you probably recognize them in other pieces of work I have done in the past. When I began this particular box, the wings matched with the essence of the Labradorite stone was where it all started. When I looked into the Labradorite I asked myself what it made me feel and what visions it wanted to express... through that, I found myself sculpting angel wings.
Everything else from there became a build off of those beginning parts- the wings and Labradorite. I work with Labradorite a lot in my pieces... I love how unique and mystical this stone is. The colors and energy of it all on its own tend to inspire some of my most favorite pieces I have ever created. The iridescence and beauty of this stone always tell a unique story. To me, this particular Labradorite sparked this story told through the sculpting and painting.
It is adorned with other light reflecting glass beads with similar iridescence, sacred geometry, hand sculpted clay designs and textures, and a whole lot of love. It is then hand dyed and then hand painted with acrylic paint from here. I hand painted all of the kene' shipibo print as well! It was a finishing touch after I thought the piece was already complete... but after some days of sitting and admiring it I realized it was missing something- and the kene' shipibo print was birthed.
This is a one of a kind piece- meaning I will never recreate a piece just like this one ever again. The last picture also shows the insert option or you can leave it out and have it on on the bottom leather. I added the soft insert for some support and gentleness for any medicine tools like a potential kuripe that may go in here... but it isn't necessary and will be completely up to the new owner if it decides to stay.
The intention for this box was a safe space that is intentionally designed and made to hold sacred items, medicines, or tools. However, it can of course be utilized for other things too.
The box is designed to energetically protect and amplify anything that is put inside of it. You a think of this box and a protection shield and charger of whatever goes inside. With that, it is also beautiful... a designated space for special things to be kept and to go inside.
I put some of my hape jars (3g, 8g, and 15g) along with sananga in one of the pictures to help with size reference. I also put one of my kuripes in another to also help give an idea of size of this piece.
It is 13.5 cm wide, 7.75 cm in depth, and about 9 cm long.
