"Quetzals are regarded as a legendary species on the various tribes of the Native Indians in Central America. Quetzalcoatl, a representation of the good spirit for the Mayans and also the Aztecs is depicted with a serpent head and decorated with the feathers of a Resplendent Quetzal. The bird is sacred and killing a quetzal is punishable by death, thus after the tribe’s have plucked its feather, both tribes are releasing this bird into the wild.
