Description
This piece is made by Angela.
It was created with the materials: bamboo, glass jar with tin lid, apoxie air dry clay, Golden brand acrylic paints, metallic paint, Labradorite stone, and dragon eye embellishments
The center of the bamboo tube that inserts into the nose and the center of the bamboo tube that enters into the mouth is 4.75cm in distance. It is made to fit most all sizes of face however face size can differ. I recommend measuring the distance between your mouth to your nostril to have an idea of your face sizing. Keep in mind too that the kuripe can be angled in different ways when blowing to accommodate different faces too but I give you the sizing so you have an idea of its size prior to purchasing for yourself or someone else.
This is an original piece hand crafted and made with a lot of love. This piece took around 30 hours of work put in, honestly... possibly more. It was about 4 days of tedious and focused work to get it to this point. I wanted to create something with as much precision as I could and the steadiness of my hand would allow. I have been creating medicine tools for a little over 5 years now and working with clay in this way has taken me 100s of hours, maybe more, to get to this point of articulation in my work.
Dragons are something that I myself resonate with very much. They are the protectors and bring forth an energy of strength, fierceness, and power. To work with the dragon energy is to also bring those qualities into our own existence and activate them within ourselves.
When I completed this piece I could feel the dimensions and places that I have been too in my own work with Ayahuasca and Bufo. The details and patterns reminding me of spaces in my own journeys and consciousness I have experienced and been invited into. Having this piece be birthed to life through me feels like a blessing from the divine which I am excited to be able to share.
The jar on the bottom is so that you can keep your hape (rapeh) attached to your kuripe if you'd like for easy storage and convenience.
I will make sure to varnish this piece to protect the paint as well while it is being utilized and loved for its purpose. The clay is very strong and should last for many years to come. With that in mind, it is important to still take good care of the piece- not to expose it to drastic changes in humidity and temperatures for long periods of time, drop it on hard surfaces, or let it bounce around freely in a bag. I recommend when traveling with it to wrap it up in a piece of leather and have it stored in a secure pocket to protect its craftsmanship.
